The Lending Library Project

Improving quality of life after others gave up

Tools for Improving Lives; One Family at a Time

By Allan Gardiner

Dear Friends,

I am excited by a project of the L.C. and Lillie Cox Haven of Hope. Darcelle Lahr created the Haven of Hope Project to lend PhotoMed's light therapy devices to families and practitioners who would otherwise not have access to the new technology.

The project is modeled after a tool lending "library" that provides access to tools that may otherwise not be available.

You may have watched me and heard my stories about the 500+ people I've been honored to serve since inventing the therapy in 2000. Many families were nearly overwhelmed by the challenges of just getting to the studies that I funded. The measurable improvements made it worthwhile to come almost weekly to the studies.

Two families exemplify the need for the Lending Library Project:

  • Beth arrived unable to feed herself after having plateaued and released from physical rehabilitation for her C5/C6 quadriplegia. Beth transitioned to a manual wheelchair after about one year in the study. https://allangardiner.com/quality-of-life#beth

(Long form interviews for researchers, feel free to skip around.)

I am personally fulfilling the project to get it started.

Please help me find candidate families, finding grants, and funding to scale the project.

You can help make the project grow with gifts directly to me, to PhotoMed Technologies, and with tax-deductible donations to the L.C. and Lillie Cox Haven of Hope.

You can share in the joy of improving lives one at a time.

Tax deductible donations

The PhotoMed Technologies Project (the PhotoMed Project) is a program of L.C. and Lillie Cox Haven of Hope (Sponsor), a nonprofit charity exempted from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and which is not a private foundation because it is described in Sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(a)(vi). The Sponsor retains complete control and discretion of the use of contributions that it receives.

PhotoMed Technologies fulfills the program by building and lending Varichrome Pro devices to families and practitioners in selected communities. Grants from the L.C. and Lillie Cox Haven of Hope and gifts to me and to PhotoMed Technologies support building devices and training via printed, online, phone, and Zoom. The device loan period depends upon the needs of the families. The loaned devices are not for sale, but devices may be purchased separately from the Project.
